On Sale: Craig Knott.

by Marcus

We have brand new art on Sale at the Exchange.

Craig’s work is incredibly vibrant colourful and abstract. His pieces are based on personal memories and emotions expressed through paint.  Revelling in a freedom of thought and exploration of colour, in a both playful and chaotic manner.

“My works are arts great adventure. Original and valued pieces influenced by my life. Colourfully passionate in feeling

They capture time’s variety in various forms. They are personal and emotional moments whereby I express life’s creativeness.
I have always had such enjoyment from painting and it feels like I am giving a piece of my mind through a canvass and painting brush. The canvas being anything that one could place a brush too. A journey though life’s gifts expressive and fulfilments, feeling the need to create.”

Calling all Artisans!!! To the Networking Brunch.

by Marcus

The Exchange,

No 8 Cheapside,

The Exchange, a venue for local contemporary artists is having a get together.

All artists and associates are invited to come along to meet others, do a bit of networking and share ideas. Discover what events are occurring in the area, and perhaps help make things happen.

The Brunch will be held on Saturday, 7th May 2011 between the hours of 11 am and 3pm. The event will cost £2.00 per head. We will supply a light meal of pancakes, fruit, yoghurt, cereal as well as juice, coffee and tea.

If the event is successful, it will become a regular occurrence for all Stoke on Trent artists to come together.

We are hoping that the event will open proactive avenues where there will be discussions, teaching sessions and demonstrations.

Please RSVP

On Sale: Jon Brayford

by Gemma

The Exchange has new stock from Photographer Jon Brayford. Below are the images of the work and his descriptions of the work.

Shatter is composed of images photographed at the now derelict Longmans meat sales factory near the new Tesco development in Hanley. Many hundreds of animals where slaughterd here and as a long time vegetarian i wanted to convey a feeling of destruction both of the building itself and of the lives lost.

Lost was inspired by Miltons poem (Paradise Lost) but is intended to be more of a comment on how we have lost touch with ourselves in a rapidly changing world.

About Jon:

I am a photographer living and working in Stoke-on-Trent. I am primarily a landscape photographer I have exhibited work at the three counties at Keele University achieving several awards and sales. I have recently been exploring new techniques in digital art which are represented here in these two new works.

The work will be available to see on our full walls this week – why not come in to see them for yourselves. Both priced at £70.00.
